Game 1

Meco Piledrivers 10 - White Chocolate 2

The new session began with a bang as the defending champion Piledrivers faced new-comers White Chocolate. An intriguing storyline developed as former Piledriver (and MVP candidate) Rookie got a crew of young athletic fellows and defected from the Piledrivers. Also of note was the return of Rage.

The opening game was a battle of wits. After two minutes of "action" not a player had been eliminated. The Piledrivers made their move. A fine variety of hits and catches eliminated all of White Chocolate in short order. Rage made a catch and a hit. Sanford was his usual steadying influence. The final play was when TJ drilled a piece of Chocolate. As he made his way to the back, he shower his true athletic prowess with a somersault followed by a phantom gun being fired into the air.

Game after game was the same story. As the minutes wore on, the upstarts realized there is a little more to this game than athleticism. Each match ended with a total elimination of each piece of White Chocolate. This is not to say that they had no attack. Occasionally, the Player formerly known as Token got hit hard, or Sanford got annihilated, or NY could not get his girth out of the way. Paddington made Rookie's trash talk prophetic as his stone hands proved to be his demise more than once.

The Wolf added some new features to his arsenal. He was on the wrong side of a stomach bug and released toxic fumes with each stride. This often cleared large areas of the floor and left him with the room he needed.

There were many great catches in the game. Several times, the Piledrivers made catches on White Chocolates best throws. It is demoralizing to know that you gave the ball all you had and the opposition made the catch. Every player from Meco had at least one catch like this. Rage and Wolf each won games this way. The Player Formerly Known as Token made a catch with his gut this way. NY made a catch off a deflection to end a game. Sanford, Paddington and TJ also caught many bullets.

Most of the Piledrivers who were eliminated had no one but themselves to blame. TJ could not stay in bounds. The over confidence from the early part of the game led to some ill advised attacks and full court throws. Many players even stayed near the line for far too long and got eliminated.

Ironically, in spite of all the foolish plays, this game will be remembered for a game winning play. With several Piledrivers still on the floor against only one White Chocolate, the Player Formerly known as Token charged. In fear, the Chocolate turned his back. The PFKAT through gently at the players back and secured the win. However in doing so, he showed a soft side that the Piledrivers can not show. In that moment he went from Dr. Dre to Fresh Prince.

Game Notes: This win marks the sixth straight for the Piledrivers. The return of Rage bolstered the offense and defense tremendously. Free Agent (PCP) suffered a knee injury and may be out for the year. This greatly decreases the odds of a Piledriver brawl.
